Dear friends and followers, welcome back to my channel!
On the 20th of February 2021, a United Boeing 777-200, registration N772UA performing flight UA-328 from Denver,CO to Honolulu,HI (USA) with 231 passengers and 10 crew, was in the initial climb out of Denver's runway 25 when the right hand engine's (PW4077) inlet separated associated with the failure of the engine. The crew declared Mayday reporting an engine failure. The aircraft stopped the climb at about 13000 feet, the crew requested to return to Denver after running the checklists. ATC offered any runway, they would make it happen. The aircraft returned to Denver for a safe landing on runway 26 about 23 minutes after departure. The aircraft stopped on the runway for a check by emergency services. Emergency services advised of an active fire within the right hand engine and extinguished the fire a few minutes later. The aircraft was subsequently towed off the runway to a remote parking stand, where passengers disembarked and were bussed to the terminal. There were no injuries.
The engine inlet fell into the neighbourhood of Broomfield,CO, located about 16nm west of Denver near 13th and Elmwood Street, the debris also struck through the roof of an adjacent house.
Broomfield police reported that although debris impacted the neighbourhood and damaged a number of homes, there were no injuries on the ground. The debris field expands over a nautical mile.
Ground observers reported hearing the sound of an explosion like bang, smoke and saw the debris falling down. The aircraft continued flying.

Very good information! If this could be shown on all the TV news stations, it would go a long way towards reassuring the traveling public to get back to flying...the SAFEST form of transportation

2 thoughts.............First, excellent job by the pilots.........fly the plane 1st, figure out the issue and deal with it. Second, modern aircraft are extremely durable. They are difficult to "break."

The debris field for this incident was about 5 miles away from my home. I didn't hear the explosion, but did hear the loud, abnormal sound of the flight afterward. The turn was away from me, so I was hearing the flight from at least 5 miles away. My initial thought was that it sounded like a low level military flight, like when the Red Arrows visited a couple of years back.
Rich Dobbsชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
The Red Arrows were in Colorado in September, 2019. Interesting, albeit brief, display of colored smoke near the Rocky Mountain Regional Airport while driving home from work that day.

this may be a dumb question so please excuse me. But why is there a delay in landing. I understand that the checklists are important but shouldnt landing me the top goal. What if more damage is done to the plane from flying around waiting for check lists to be done
Jasper Gerritsชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
The weirdest part is by now the whole world knows about this but what the media don't say (i know Flight 328 was a 777) is that a 747 cargo had the exact same issue above the netherlands at pretty much the exact same time. So what they saying aslong as there are passengers on board we care if it just cargo we don't care? That is highly disrespectfull to the pilots onboard cause basicly its saying a who cares about the pilots the passengers matter. thnick.info/one/rNLTyNlnoqaeups/w-d-xo Title translated: Plane loses engine parts above Meerssen after exploding engine.

Just curious, how accessible are these emergency checklists? Does the co-pilot have to thumb through a big binder of paper checklists or are they in digital form that are indexed by fault for easy access? Excellent presentation? Thanks.

Mark Summerford2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
The pilot repeatedly used the word “heavy.” What does that mean in this context? Dead engine and coming down ASAP, full of people, full of gas??
Paul Tibbsชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Not exactly. From Wikipedia: "All aircraft produce wingtip vortices that create wake turbulence in flight. The vortex strength increases when the aircraft is heavier and when it flies slowly. Thus, the term "heavy" (unlike light, medium and large) is included by heavy-class aircraft in radio transmissions around airports during take-off and landing, incorporated into the call sign, to warn other aircraft that they should leave additional separation to avoid this wake turbulence." Maximum take off weight of 300,000 lbs or more, with some exceptions.

Pfffff. this is nothing... We had a whole engine fall off of a 747 in 1993. The engine landed in the front yard of one of the houses in my neighborhood. FAA issued $100 rewards for debris found. Us kids (at the time) had a field day running all over the neighborhood. This is the most important post you will ever read. Every one of us has sinned against God. We’ve lied, we’ve stolen, we’ve sinned sexually, and we’ve taken His name in vain; which makes us liars, thieves, fornicators and blasphemers.. Yet this is only four of our many transgressions. The problem is, we can never ‘outweigh’ our sin with good deeds because God is perfect in Holiness, meaning his standard is beyond our reach. He is also perfect in Justice, meaning, he will bring EVERY sin to light. The punishment for our sin is death, and Hell; a place of Eternal Fire, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Fortunately God is also perfect in Love, so 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ left his throne in heaven and came to this earth. While here, he lived a perfectly righteous life, only to take the punishment that We deserved; Our sinless creator became Our sin, and endured a gruesome death on a cross for our sake. Right before he died, he said ‘it is finished’.. meaning, the debt for our sins has been paid in full. And on the third day, he defeated death and rose from the grave. So now, we can go free from the wrath of God’s judgement not by earning it, but rather, as a free gift of grace.. Except gifts can be either accepted or rejected. So this is what you must do in response; Humbly admit to God that you have sinned against him, and through gratitude in the sacrifice of his son, repent (turn away) from your old way of life. Then, confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, your savior, and the ruler of your life from this moment forward (Romans 10:9). Do these things, and you will be saved. If you do so sincerely, God will grant you a new heart which no longer finds comfort in sin, but instead desires to read and obey his word. He will also grant you Eternal life in his presence; The greatest pleasure on earth doesn’t even come close to what God is preparing for believers in the afterlife. You’ve been informed; Now the choice is yours. What you do with this information will determine where you spend ETERNITY, meaning, this is the single most critical decision you will EVER make; And all of us here, whether believer or atheist, know deep down that every last word here is true. Jesus Christ awaits YOU this very moment. Don’t even think about sleeping tonight until you surrender your life to him, because your tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.. And as it is written (Hebrews 9 : 27); ‘It is appointed unto man ONCE to die, but after this, THE JUDGMENT’. All glory, honor and praise to Lord Jesus Christ.

So basically... First Officer Joe (not captain), this whole video is somewhat a copy of what was on the news. I can’t believe that you actually profit on THnick from these kind of events, where you have almost no facts, you use generic checklists (with poor English) for your viewers and the comments you use are rather ill-informed. Any Captain like me watching your video gets a bit of satisfaction knowing you’ll probably never be in my right seat. But good luck Captain (NOT!) Joe. Let us know when you get that 4th stripe on your shoulder.

I retired early (medical loss) with about 8000 hours ATP Instructor and check airman. Great video. 100% correct analysis. Even with increasing technology and aircraft automation. There should never be a day when airliners don’t have 2 pilots onboard for these rare occasions. I have been blessed to have acquaintances in military unmanned systems. Even with the best cutting edge technology, these unmanned systems are lost far too often for air carriers operation. Obviously this will continue to improve and losses will reach numbers similar to pilot manned aircraft. But, to me as long as there are passenger onboard or the chance that a large aircraft could be brought down by data link jamming, GPS systems knocked out or another myriad of possible failures .... I personally want well paid, well trained pilots onboard.
